FAQ

Everest Region questions

How hard is the Everest Base Camp trek?

The walking itself is moderate but the altitude is the real challenge. Days of 5-7 hours on well-made trails with two built-in acclimatisation days make it achievable for anyone with steady fitness.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes - your policy must cover trekking up to 5,500 m and emergency helicopter evacuation. We can recommend providers our travellers have used.

How cold does it get?

Nights drop well below freezing above 4,000 m in every season. Daytime temperatures are pleasant in spring and autumn. Our packing list covers layered systems for both.
